Purpose of the role

As an ASL Sales Executive, Outside Sales, or BDM, your primary responsibility will be to drive profitability and revenue growth by executing the sales process effectively. You will focus on initiating and developing business opportunities with new customers within a designated geographic territory, aligning with DACHSER’s strategic business objectives.

Your focus will primarily be on large and mid-sized customers, specifically those classified as ASL D to A, with annual spend ranging from £60,000 to over £1,000,000 and handling 30+ shipments per year.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a strong sales pipeline by proactively identifying new business opportunities through cold calling, networking, and referrals within your market, meeting or exceeding established quotas.

  • Qualify sales leads and pass relevant opportunities to other divisions, business units, and overseas DACHSER offices for further development.

  • Prepare and present tailored price offers to clients, ensuring the proposed logistics solutions meet their specific needs and deliver value.

  • Achieve sales targets by consistently delivering on monthly KPIs, while ensuring seamless customer onboarding and a high level of satisfaction.

  • Track sales activities and outcomes using the DACHSER CRM system, ensuring accurate records and producing insightful monthly sales reports.

  • Build strong relationships with key decision-makers within customer organisations to understand their business models and identify opportunities for value creation.

  • Drive account growth through cross-selling and up-selling additional services, including road freight, value-added products, and contract logistics.

  • Facilitate regular business reviews with clients to evaluate performance, address challenges, and identify future opportunities for collaboration.

  • Stay informed about market trends and industry developments, using this knowledge to adapt strategies and remain competitive.

  • Target performance of 30 new customer meetings per month (visits or video calls) to drive continuous engagement and new business.

  • Achieve a GP to Gross Income ratio of at least 2.5 (1.5 in the first year), ensuring effective conversion of sales opportunities into profitable business.

The ideal candidate will have

  • Strong understanding of business impact and financial drivers

  • Confidence to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels

  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and persuasively

  • Active listening skills to uncover and address the real needs of customers

  • Resilience under pressure with a results-oriented approach to achieving goals

  • Proven knowledge of sales techniques and tools to drive success

  • Advanced presentation and negotiation skills to close deals effectively

  • Excellent time management to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel

  • 2+ years of experience in a sales environment (B2B preferred)
