Purpose Of the Role:
To support the smooth and efficient running of the Transit Terminal Warehouse, carrying out all operational activities accurately and in a timely manner. Working both independently and as part of the team, the role will help ensure customer-specific requirements are met while consistently delivering a high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently move freight throughout the Transit Terminal, ensuring goods are handled correctly at all times.
- Carry out the loading and unloading of vehicles, working efficiently to meet operational deadlines.
- Operate the appropriate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) safely and correctly for each task.
- Identify and report damaged freight, following the correct reporting and escalation processes.
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety, following all Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) and site procedures.
- Use scanners, computers and other IT equipment as part of daily warehouse activities.
- Complete all required documentation accurately and efficiently, ensuring records are kept up to date.
- Work to agreed loading and unloading schedules, ensuring time-sensitive activities are completed within operational deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the wider Transit Terminal team to help maintain a safe, efficient and high-quality operation.
The ideal candidate will have
- Previous experience handling, storing or retrieving heavy and high-value goods within a warehouse environment.
- A strong team-working approach, with the ability to support colleagues and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Excellent attention to detail, ensuring freight and documentation are handled accurately.
- The ability to work efficiently at pace while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- Confidence to work independently and use your own initiative when required.
- Good computer literacy, with the confidence to use scanners and warehouse IT systems.
- Good manual handling skills and an understanding of safe working practices.
- A strong awareness of Health & Safety within a warehouse or operational environment.
- Good numeracy and literacy skills to accurately complete documentation and follow operational instructions.
