Planner Team Leader

Tasks

• Act as a point of escalation for your team, offering solutions quickly but also developing your team.
• Responsible for the efficient routing of daily deliveries in the Munster Area while continuously offering opportunities for process and cost improvement.
• Oversee and utilise the various operating systems to plan daily driver routes, assuring all customer needs or requirements are met.
• Communicate transportation delays that result from system challenges, weather obstacles, etc. to the Branch Supervisor.
• Work to ensure effective handovers are in place from and to the day shift
• Monitor service level performance, accurate route plan data and report results as requested.
• Perform “what if” routing analysis and continually strive to find more efficient ways to route and reduce transportation costs.
• Work with service partners where needed optimising fleet dispatch.
• Responsible for the maintaining of data, data analysis, and creating reports as requested.
• Provides support to Branch Night Shift as needed.
• Maintenance, charging and reporting of defects on equipment and or facilities.
• Ensuring that the team adhere to all safety requirements and understand how to react in the event of an incident or accident.
• Observing all security protocols are followed. Gate close, shutters used and suspicious behaviour reported.
• Route 150 to 250 deliveries per night.
• Allocate night and day traction requirements.
• Achieve our customers’ delivery requirements while achieving key commercial targets.
• Maximise revenue and utilisation per vehicle.
• Coordinate daily runs for the Cork Short Distance fleet.
• Effectively liaise with drivers and service partners.
• Work with all teams and service partners to ensure we deliver the best customer service & deliveries in full and on time.
• Assist with yard duties under direction of the Team Lead and help with the shunting of vehicles as needed.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role with practical transport experience – Arctic and Rigid

• Transport related degree and/or on-road experience is desirable but is not essential.
• Excellent geographical knowledge & knowledge of delivery points within Ireland.
• Exceptional communication skills with fluency in both written and spoken English.
• Proficient in the use of IT systems (MS Office).
• Flexible with the ability to work under pressure while ensuring customer requirements are achieved.
• Self-motivated and have the ability to react to business requirements.
• Forklift experience desirable but training can be provided.
• Flexible in shift times (normal shift time is 22.00 – 07.00)
