Apprentice Forwarding Logistics Specialist

Tasks

  • Assist with processing sea import shipments

  • Capture and update shipment details in internal systems

  • Prepare and check import documentation (Bills of Lading, invoices, packing lists)

  • Communicate with shipping lines, depots, and internal teams

  • Track and trace containers and monitor vessel arrivals

  • Assist with customs documentation preparation

  • Follow up on cargo availability, releases, and unpack notifications

  • Maintain accurate and complete shipment files

  • Support the team with general admin, filing, and data entry

  • Assist with costing and billing preparation

  • Ensure compliance with company and customs procedures

Qualifications and Experience

  • Matric / Grade 12 (essential)

  • Maths Literacy or Mathematics (advantageous)

  • Basic computer literacy (Excel, Word, Outlook)

  • Any short course in logistics, freight, or customs (advantageous but not required)

  • Experience required 1 - 3 year in admin, logistics, or freight

  • Exposure to customs processes is an advantage but not mandatory

  • Experience with data capturing or document handling is helpful
